Ya:Mari Competition 2025 Successfully Concluded at Academy of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management

The Academy of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management proudly organized a vibrant and culturally rich Ya:Mari Competition on 1st December 2025, celebrating one of the most iconic and beloved Newari delicacies Ya:Mari.
This year's competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 35 contestants, including five senior participants above 60 years of age, showcasing the timeless connection between tradition, culinary skills and community spirit.

The dishes were evaluated by a distinguished panel of renowned culinary experts:

2. Chef Shyam Bahadur Lama
3. Chef Ratna Bahadur Thapa
4. Chef Hari Devi Shrestha

Their expertise and constructive feedback provided valuable insights to all participants, enriching the learning and competitive spirit of the event.

Celebrating Culture & Culinary Excellence
The competition aimed not only to test culinary skills but also to honor Nepal’s rich heritage encouraging younger generations to appreciate and preserve traditional foods like Ya:Mari.

Ya:Mari Mahotsab cum Award Distribution | 2nd & 3rd December 2025

Following the successful competition, the Academy will be hosting the Ya:Mari Mahotsab cum Award Distribution on 2nd and 3rd December 2025.

as the Chief Guest for the ceremony.

The Mahotsab will feature:
Award distribution to the competition winners
Live Ya:mari stalls and tasting sessions
Cultural presentations and interactive activities
Promotion of Newari culinary heritage

This two-day celebration will bring together students, chefs, community members and food enthusiasts to recognize talent, promote tradition and celebrate Nepal’s authentic flavors.
